his name is stephen mader and not only did he refuse to shoot, he actively wanted to help the man (ronald ‘rj’ williams) because he could tell that he was only acting out because of mental illness. rj williams was suicidal and holding an unloaded gun and, while mader didn’t shoot him, a fellow officer (ryan kuzma) did and murdered him on the spot. here is the source and here’s to hoping rj williams gets justice

please, if you are able, do what you can for the asiatic lion. donate, get involved, spread information. there are only about 300 left in the world, and they all live in Gir Forest National Park in India.

the african lion is also estimated to be extinct by 2050 due to habitat loss, sport hunting, and loss of their prey base to the bushmeat trade. these beautiful creatures could be extinct in our lifetime. the next generation may not ever have the chance to see these creatures, there will be no more cute lion vines, there will be no more documentaries, there will be no more zoos or sanctuaries containing lions. there will be no more lions.

Yeah, reminder that the WWF still violates the rights of tribal peoples, funds shoot-on-sight policies, has never apologized for its racism in the 90’s and has an approach to conservation that’s based on eugenics. WWF is also in bed with palm oil producers, supposedly for monetary gain. I’d also argue that the WWF misuses its funds, considering its CEO is in the 1% and at one time had a higher salary than the US president, despite being a non-profit.

Unpopular opinion but I feel the need to say this as election year draws closer and Democratic candidates are being announced:

in 2020, the ONLY GOAL is getting that orange sludge out of office.

That’s it. That is endgame for 2020. If you stick your head up your ass so far as to think anything is more important than that at this point, get an emergency head-ass-ectomy REAL fucking quick because we CANNOT pull another 2016.

I don’t care if the Dem nominee is someone you hate, if you’ve voted Green Party for 34 years, if your goddamn mother is on the ticket. If mama isn’t the official presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, then you DO NOT VOTE FOR HER.

2020 is about blocking another four years of nightmare hell. 2020 is about caring about other people’s realities over your “conscience” (read: online woke points). It’s about standing up for every person hurt, every person harassed, every person KILLED by the hate this piece of radioactive bile spews from every disgusting orifice.

ESPECIALLY my fellow white people better take this message to fucking heart, because WE are the ones who fucked this up, ESPECIALLY my fellow white women. You are not allowed to “vote your conscience.” You are not allowed to “weigh the options.” You are suddenly a single-issue voter, and that issue is Trump Is Evil. You are voting to evict, voting to BLOCK. If the Democratic candidate is less than ideal, you suck it the fuck up for 2020. This election is not, CANNOT be about idealism, about perfection. It’s about starting to undo four years of damage.

So from the announcement of the nominee until November 3rd, 2020, you better be all fucking in. If you don’t like their stances on certain issues, if they’re not progressive enough, if they’ve reached across the aisle too many times, worry about it November 4th. Spend the next four years pushing them left, protesting everything you don’t like, picket the fucking White House if you need to. I will be right there with you. But that starts on November 4th. Until then, we are on a straight anti-Trump train and y’all better not fucking get off it.

With the government shutdown we are getting the tiniest taste of what will happen under 45’s continued rule. Federal fucking employees in food pantry lines, SNAP benefits on the edge of running out, no food safety regulations or inspectors, national parks getting absolutely trashed, emergency disaster relief funds withheld, more deportations, more harassment, more violence.

Who does it disproportionately affect? Marginalized people. Poor people, people of color, religious minorities, trans and queer people, anyone who was already struggling pre-Trump is struggling more now that the giant orange rectal polyp is fucking up literally everything.

When your principled objection to the two-party system lands vulnerable people in deep trouble, when your dislike of the Democratic candidates neuters the opposition to Trump, when your tolerance for political discourse hits rock bottom so you decide not to vote out of sheer spite, you have ceased to have the moral high ground. 2020 will not be like any other election year we have ever seen. I’m old, so trust me on this. We cannot afford to let this continue. We cannot. We have to stop it. That means hauling your ass to the polls in 2020 and absolutely humiliating that orange bastard in the biggest landslide this country has ever seen.

If there is to be a future where we are secure, where we are not mocked literally all over the world, and where our most vulnerable citizens are truly protected, it begins with using our boots to show that massive pile of shit the fucking door.
